Florida Class “G” Armed Security Officer – Annual Requalification Course
Duration: 4 Hours
Cost: $150 (Includes course materials, range fees, targets, safety gear)

Credentialed By: Licensed Class “K” Firearms Instructor
Course Overview:
ESS Academy is committed to providing the most comprehensive and up-to-date firearms requalification training available in the State of Florida. Our top priority is to ensure that every student completes this course with the confidence, competence, and legal compliance required to carry a firearm professionally.
Under Florida Statute Chapter 493, all individuals holding a Class “G” Statewide Firearms License are required to re-qualify annually by completing a minimum of four (4) hours of re-certification training administered by a licensed Class “K” firearms instructor.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive the Certificate of Firearms Proficiency (Form #16005), which must be submitted to the Florida Division of Licensing to maintain active license status.
Program Breakdown:
Classroom Instruction (2 Hours)
Conducted in accordance with state-mandated curriculum
Topics include use-of-force policy, firearm safety, legal updates, and threat assessment
Students are required to bring their unloaded duty firearm, duty belt (if applicable), and at least two magazines or speed loaders for dry fire practice
All instruction is provided by an expert Class “K” instructor with over 40 years of combined security and firearms training experience
Written Exam (1 Hour)
A 25-question written exam will assess student understanding of course material
A minimum passing score of 70% is required
A brief review of correct answers will be provided following the exam
Live Fire Qualification (Range Time – 1 Hour)
Students will complete a 48-round live fire qualification course
A minimum score of 168 out of 240 points (70%) is required to pass
Students will be given up to three attempts to achieve a passing score
If a student qualifies on the first attempt, no further attempts are necessary
